Need a Break?

Image
Sometimes we all need a break but sometimes it is hard to find where that break can be found? Am I right? Working full time, finishing up classes, and still trying to find time for my son and myself lies the question -  When and what do we eat?     As I discussed in a previous post, my partner and I have been ordering Hello Fresh every week and have been loving it! But the meal sizes are just the perfect amount for him and I and the family size is a little expensive and a little too much food for the two of us and our little guy.    Obviously I want my son to eat well and have a well balanced meal too so I started doing some research and found Yumble. It is a meal delivery services just for kids. You can chose from :      6 MEALS PER WEEK Dinners, lunches and/or snacks for 1 kid! $7.99  /meal 12 MEALS PER WEEK Dinners, lunches and/or snacks for 1-2 kids! $7.49  /meal 24 MEALS PER WEEK Dinners, lunches and/or snacks for 2-3 kids! $6.99  /meal

Day 30

Image
30 Days of Growth, Aspiration, and Change Everyday, whether we know it or not we change or grow in some way. It all goes back to "you learn something new everyday." I truly believe that and I truly believe that when you learn something new in life you learn something new about yourself. Throughout this 30 day self love challenge I have learned so much about myself and about others. Not only have I learned, but I have seen a huge change in myself and in my relationships with others; completely positive and uplifting of course. I hope that if you have read any of these posts or even one you have been able to see somewhat of a change in your life.  I will leave these posts up for at any point we all want to reflect and do this challenge again! I think that anyone, including myself, can benefit so much from self love in so many ways. So for today's challenge I want you to go back to the first self love challenge that you read here; that could be Day 1, or it c

Day 29

Image
Where is your favorite place ?  My favorite place of all time is this desolate, unknown, magnificent spot I call "The Windmills." It is a place in the middle of no where that has hundred and hundreds of windmills everywhere.  Before I had my son I would go to this beautiful spot at least  three times a week. I would drive up and hula hoop, relax, read, think- you name it. My friends would all want me to bring them up there, but other times I just went alone; it was my place to go to get away. Sometimes you need those places to escape from reality and this spot was perfect for just that. Some spots up there you won't see a person for miles, maybe a cow or two, but no people in sight and no cell service.  That could become dangerous - but I couldn't get enough. Since my son has been born I have only been up twice. Even saying that shatters my heart because this place was home to me. For years and years I would go there when I was so happy, heart broken

Day 28

Let your soul shine bright and your mind wander. Let your inagination burst today! Sometimes we dream of all of these beautiful aspirations but then shut it out because we think it is completely ridiculous. Well, I am here to remind you it's not. Your dreams, goals, and wants are not ridiculous; they are there and they are capable of being reached.  We have already touched on the law of attraction and manifesting so we won't go there. But what I will suggest is instead of dreaming it, let's take it a little further tonight.  One thing that I think could be on everyone's list of a possibly unreachable goal is a dream vacation. We think that going to Greece for a week, backpacking Europe, or exploring the Netherlands is completely out of reach to us. Maybe if we are trying to go tomorrow, for some of us it could be. But tonight I want you to go ahead and plan your trip. Obviously don't book it if it is something you cannot do; but plan it as if you were going. Look up

Day 27

MANIFESTING YOUR LIFE!  In order to change your life you need to take control of your life. If you aren't happy or peticularly comfortable in one aspect of your life then it is time to make a change.   For today's challenge I want you to write down 3 goals you have for a 5 year plan. They can be as unrealistic as you want them to be; because if you manifest it, strive for it, you can conquer it.  Here are some tips and tricks on how to manifest your dreams.  If you want it bad enough- it will happen. Speak out loud as if you already have these goals. Write in your journal daily about ways you can get to this goal and how badly you want it; the universe is listening to you. The universe is NOT listening to you complain on your couch about how unlucky you are. YOU are the only person who can get you out of where you are now!  Get up and make it happen! But first, organize what it is you want to do, what it is you are striving for.

Day 26

Image
Our world is becoming a scary place. The last few days have shown events of hatred and pure evil. We are human beings and should not judge others on the color of their skin, where they live, but only on their character. But I'm not here to talk about that; we all should know what is right and what is wrong.  As a white woman, I am privileged; I am fortunate enough to never experience this animosity and discrimination daily but I am here to be an ally and I am here to support. I will use the only thing I have to do so; my voice. To sit here in silence is to sit here and act as if nothing is happening and none of this matters because it isn't effecting YOU. But that isn't true. This is our country, these are our people, and our neighbors.  Today I think that we should turn to our neighbors and show love, support, and kindness. Donate $1-10 of your choice to a charity in need of supporting Charlottesville, or anything you think you can do to show your support is something. Sil

Day 25

We have come so far on this journey of self love! I hope that if you have read one or all these posts you have felt some what of a change in how you view yourself.  Today we are focusing on learning something new. It is a glorious Sunday morning which indicates to me, anything is possible. So today decide what it is that you want to learn! It could be something simple, or something a little more challenging that today might be the start of your learning adventure.  Some examples could be learning a new way to cook, a new exercise, painting, learning another language; the options are endless! Something you don't know how to do today is something you can learn how to do.  I found an awesome 8 step tutorial on Pinterest on watercolor painting! It looks so fun and it's something I have never tried before. I also have always wanted to learn how to do that beautiful handwriting people can do?! It's just stunning the way people can write and create beautiful pieces just by simply

Day 24

Image
you are beautiful. you are strong. you are enough.  Today in addition to telling yourself how great you are (which you should be doing daily), let someone know how great you think they are; but make sure this person is a stranger.  The least acquainted you are the better. Also, make sure it is a genuine compliment to another human. We don't just want to go out there spreading meaningless words to each other. Sometimes we see someone and think "Wow, they are stunning" or "They really have great style." Tell that person! Words from a stranger can mean so much more than words from a family or friend because strangers go out of their way to tell you these things.  Go back to a time and think about when a stranger told you something great about yourself; it felt fantastic didn't it? So now, be that person.  Spread love, give love, and be love!

Grove Co.

Having a little mini-me has made me more aware of all the shit out there. Not that I am a neurotic mama, but I am definitely more conscious about the what ifs. The fact that my child will lick toilet seats for fun or thinks it is funny to put anything in his mouth at all times, I have decided to not only care about what I feed him but care about what products I use to clean my house with and put on his body.  Recently, I have found the website Grove Collaborative. This is a website which provides all natural products from all different brands we love. Brands like Dr. Bronners, Mrs, Meyers, Seventh Generation, Method, and Caldrea. They offer everything!  So when I say everything I mean anything from cleaning products and accessories, lotions, soaps, shampoos and conditioners (adults and children), beauty products, kids medications, paper products, food storage--- I could keep going but you get the point. They have it all. Anything and everything to make your home a little bit he

Day 23

Pick Up A Good Read: But make sure the book you choose is good for the soul. During this time you want to enlighten, brighten, and uplift   yourself.  Remember, this time is all about you so choose it wisely.  Usually I would pick some gruesome tales of a serial killer or something along those lines, but today I have decided to fill my brain with positive vibes and love.  There are days when we feel that our lives or ourselves aren't up to par with societies standards, right? Yes / no? well for me that happens often. For some reason I have this terrible habit of being impatient and comparing my life to others and to what I think I should be doing. The book I decided to start reading to day is called You are a Badass: How to Stop Doubting Your Greatness and Start Living an Awesome Life  By Jen Sincero. It has been sitting at the bottom of my purse for about 2 months now waiting for me to have some time to read it. When in all actuality, I have time, and I will make some

Day 22

Image
Check in: Sometimes we worry about everyone else and forget about ourselves; our family, our boss, our recipients at work, our friends- the list goes on. But none of those people can benefit from you if you aren't in tip top  shape.  There are times when we think there is nothing we really need and everything is great, but unless we really check in with ourselves, here and now,  to see if there is something going on with us physically or mentally- we may never know.  I had been going along my days feeling great, loving myself day after day; but there was something that I felt that wasn't going right. I checked into my body with deep relaxation and meditation and found that my SI joint was so off that my right leg is about 3-4 inches longer than my left. This has happened to me a few other times before and with a little massage, PT, and daily work it ended up getting better. I had just been trucking through my days like no big deal when in actuality I am in pret

Day 21

Happy day 21 out of 30 days of self love ! Just a quick check in. Starting from day 15 we have been getting rid of one item per day; so far you should have 6 items to donate!    So as for today, I want to touch on solitude. Solitude doesn't mean you dispise others presence or have feelings of loneliness. Solitude means you are so comfortable in your own company that you do not even miss the presence of others in that time; the time of your own is so precious and joyful that the feeling of loneliness doesn't even cross your mind.  It took me many years to get here. I always had to have plans immediately after work and had to make them in the middle of the day or I would have anxiety about it. It being needing plans so I did not have to go home after work alone without anything to do with a boyfriend, friend, or family.  I went thought a really traumatic and intense break up many years ago that had me spending a lot of time alone in my own head. It was the best thing that ever ha

Grocery Store Defeat

Giving Thanks To Another Mom            Do you ever feel defeated, worthless, and stressed to the point of no return? Well, I was there last night.               My son was always so well behaved in public. People would come up to us when we were out to tell us how great he was and how great of parents we must be; and that’s a problem. Why is it an appropriate assumption that if my kid acts good or bad in public that I am a good or bad parent? At the time I thought it was completely rational because I do consider myself to be a pretty decent parent, I do try my best. I do everything for my child, I put him first before everything, I love him unconditionally, and he has everything that he needs; so yeah- I think I am a good parent. But, that has nothing to do with how my child acts in public, and now I am coming to realize that.             More frequently than not I have been doing my grocery shopping on my own, running to target quick alone, and trying to squeeze in anythin

Day 20

Image
Plan Ahead- I absolutely love the MINDBODY app. It gives me the opportunity to explore different fitness, beauty, and wellness places around my area- where ever I am. With the click of the button I can view weekly schedules, frequent/upcoming events, the instructors, prices, awesome deals, and what the different places offer.  *Just to list a few things that this app offers: Yoga, Pilates, MMA, personal training, Massages, Acupuncture, Meditation, Nutrition, PT, Spas, Nails, Saunas- AND SO MUCH MORE!* Anyone who is affiliated with this app, you can prepay and book right through the app! So, I have been wanting to try Mandala Moon Yoga for a while now. Dena B, who is an instructor there is the person who started me on my journey and love for yoga. She was my "gym teacher" for a Beginners Yoga class in college. She was simply amazing ; I loved everything she did.  I was just recently checking out the app, booking my usual Saturday sunrise morning yoga at

Day 19

Let's Get Creative So over the next day or so let your mind explore and do something it hasn't been able to do or something you haven't don't in a while; something creative. This can mean anything! Canvas painting, poetry, working with clay, re-purposing furniture. Literally anything you want. Personally something that I truly enjoy doing is going to the thrift store and finding something to redo! Things like old mason jars, vintage miniature mirrors, old wooden boxes etc. I like to paint them, add burlap, or anything I deem appropriate at the time to spunk it up and add to my home decor collection, or give it away as a gift. (These are just some old mason jars that I painted, sandpapered, some twine, a cute button, added some pretty fake flowers and BOOM- some wall decor ! ) Whether it comes out spectacular or not, it is relaxing, fun, and so interesting to see what the creative side of you can do; you might not even know it is there. If you are doing someth
